Apply Here to Host the Carnival of Personal Finance

The Carnival of Personal Finance is now looking for volunteers for hosting the Carnival in the months of October, November, and December. There are only 14 slots available, and they will go fast. If you’re interested in hosting, take a look at the requirements—they’re a little different than your average Blog Carnival—and provide your information here.

Deadline for 2nd Anniversary Edition Approaching

Don’t forget to submit your best article from the past two years to the Carnival of Personal Finance for the special second anniversary edition, hosted by Get Rich Slowly. While you’re at it, rewind and take a look at last year’s first anniversary edition. Perhaps you want to go back further; if so, then the inaugural edition is for you.

Important Note About Carnival #105

Next Monday’s edition of the Carnival of Personal Finance will be the Carnival’s second anniversary. Get Rich Slowly will be the host, and J.D. would like to make this edition a special experience. Here are his instructions for submitting an article this week:

Get Rich Slowly will host the second anniversary edition of the carnival next Monday. I want to make this one something especially valuable to readers, so I’m breaking from the traditional format.

To participate in CoPF #105, please submit your BEST article from the past two years. Do not submit an article from the previous week (unless, of course, it’s your best post). If you submit a recent article, I will reply to verify that you do indeed think this is your best post from the past two years.

Use this opportunity to sell yourself. If you uphold your end of the bargain, I’ll do my best to sell the carnival to channels outside the norm. (You’re welcome to help with this effort, too.) This is a great chance to generate more exposure for the pfblogging community.

Don’t Miss Out: Carnival #103

The Carnival is coming to Clever Dude on Monday, and he’ll be taking submissions through Sunday evening. If you’ve written an excellent article for your blog on the topic of personal finance, don’t hesitate to submit it for inclusion. The earlier, the better.

Now Taking Requests for Future Hosts

It’s time once again for the Carnival of Personal Finance to take requests for hosts in the third quarter (July, August and September) of 2007. Hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance is a great way to build traffic, be involved with the community, and showcase your creativity.

Before you take the plunge and request to host, make sure you read and understand the requirements of hosting. Please realize that hosting the Carnival can be a lot of work. There are often between 60 and 90 submissions that must be read. The host must at the least choose several as “Editor’s Choice” and provide quick commentary or summaries.

If you applied for a previous quarter but were not added to the schedule, please fill in the form so we can get your updated stats. If you’ve hosted already this year, feel free to request to host again.

Here is the form to apply for hosting.

Want to Host the Carnival of Personal Finance?

Shortly after Memorial Day, we will begin accepting “applications” for hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance during July, August, and September. Hosting is a lot of work when done well, but it can pay off in terms of exposure and new readers. If you’re interested in hosting, watch this space.

If you’ve applied before but didn’t make the final cut or were on the waiting list, as long as you still meet the qualifications, there’s a good chance you’ll be selected this time around if you re-apply.

If You Plan on Hosting, Please Follow the Rules

With a plethora of various topical financial carnivals, we are trying to keep the quality of the Carnival of Personal Finance as high as possible. There are several rules that were solidified at the end of 2006 that every host must follow. Everything is outlined on the Guidelines for Hosting page. Here are the requirements from that page:
