Carnival Schedule Announced for December 2011

The following blogs will be hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance in December 2011 (and one in January, for good measure). We have more hosting requests to sort through, and I’ll be updating the schedule with hosts through March soon. For bloggers wishing to host, please keep in mind there is a requirement for you to be an active Carnival participant before hosting. Being a participant also includes linking back to every edition of the carnival in which your article is included.

If you have any questions about hosting qualifications or requirements, review the guidelines here. The selection process is not based on size of the blog or readership; both big and small blogs alike can benefit from hosting. The schedule is based on variety and flow, and if you’ve successfully and creatively hosted any carnival or round-up in the past, you’d be a strong contender for hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance.

If you would like to be considered for hosting a future edition in February or beyond, complete this very short request form.

The Carnival of Personal Finance is looking for 13 volunteers to be the host in October, November, and December. Hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance is a lot of work, but there are many benefits.

Please read the hosting guidelines and fill out a request form in order to be considered.

Are you concerned that your blog is too new to host the Carnival? Big blogs and small blogs are invited to apply to host the Carnival, as are new blogs and old blogs. When scheduling, we like to include a mix of veterans and newbies, so if you’re interested, don’t hold back.

Linking Back to the Carnival is Required

Since the Carnival of Personal Finance was created on June 20, 2005, it has been a rule that all participants must link back to the Carnival if their article was included. With so many spam blogs being added to the internet every day, it’s important that we separate the signal from the noise to maintain the quality of the Carnival.

Participating in the Carnival is all about building buzz, and that only works when participants link back. The “link love” must work two ways. Therefore, we have begun creating a list of spam blogs and bloggers who habitually don’t link back to ensure that the only participants included in the Carnival are those who believe in this mission.

The sooner you link back, the better, but we have no problem with the Carnival being included in a weekly round-up as much as a week later. We have no problem if the link to the latest Carnival is an aside at the bottom of an unrelated post. As long as you link back to the Carnival each time your submission is included, we are happy.
